  • We challenged chefs of three different levels - an amateur, a home cook and a professional chef - to make their versions of french fries. And then we brought in a food scientist to review their work. Which fries were the best?

                  I can totally see testing the fermented potatoes- btw- isn't that called VODKA?- but assuming some crazy person would ferment fries for the sake of frying them- wtactualeff would you go with apple sauce?? dude- you had the perfect groundwork for AMAZING!! Wait- Level 3 chef- "let's - after fermenting for a week- sous vide our fries for 1 hour after ensuring perfect seasoning in this specially crafted spice mix. Listen- I'm all for food adventure- but FRIES- you get it? FRIES - Geesh..

                              Just freaking french fries. They do not require "fermenting". Also I find this L3 chef super patronizing. French fries do not need to be complicated. Just fried with a bit of salt. Good to go. No fancy toppings, no 5 days of nastiness. Sheesh. <_<

                                                              Sure. Surface ares yeah french fries are thin. But little surface area isn't bad.
                                                              It's just different.

                                                              It's great and even thought to be healthier where i live.... cause it soaks up less oil and it makes you full faster.

                                                              We've got around fries 1.5 by 1.5 cm thick. Or like 1 by 2 or 2.5 ish cm. They are called "grandma's fries' (yes this is from a bag.)

                                                              Don't hate on flemish fries either. They are THICC too. And delicious. Like better than french fries and 100000 times better than whatever curly fries are.

                                                                      Was it just me or is Chef Patel calling herself Palaak (which translates to spinach in Hindi). Even the food expert is pronounced her name Paalak. It is Palak which means (light like eyelashes). Thats a common name here

                                                                        The problem with these videos is that there's never any independent taste testing. Everyone always says that their own food is great so we never know whether it's really worth the effort to go lvl3 or not

                                                                                    I raise cattle, brew beer, garden, and preserve food as a hoby, I have 3 freezers, a shed smoker, two fridges converted into fermenters and one into a kegerator, my hall closet has been converted into an emergency pantry for all of my damned canned/dried fruits and vegetables, also a wine cabinet that is being used for making dry cured meat atm. So I would not be surprised if she did have a dedicated pickling/fermenting fridge.
