    I hate hate hate hominy, but I love corn. That roasting idea has changed my life. Since this pozole recipe was posted, I've been experimenting with toasted hominy. I'm doing another test today -- four cans, two colors. Trying oils today. I've got peanut, sesame, corn, and canola. I'm excited. I'm very close to cracking the recipe. When I do, toasted hominy is going into sooooo many things this holiday season. Cornbread stuffing, muffins, salads. I can't wait. This will be the year I'm remembered for reintroducing my family and friends to hominy. We're from Texas. We should love it. But, because of the blanding in the can, we don't. Not yet! Soon...

                    not to ruin the recipe but... is there any way to make this without chicken or other meats? even if its just something else to enhance the broth and having it as a soup instead of a stew? This looks absolutely mouthwatering.

                          I'm half Dominican and puertorican but I make pozole when we're sick at my house. But we usually gut out the seeds on the vegetables 5:31 so we don't have more work gutting it when it's already done

                            Rick! My mom has a recommendation (😂😂😂 I know I know) she said if you don’t like can flavor use the non canned that comes in a bag. It requires a few hrs of prep but it’s worth it 🙃

                                I boil my hominy until it "blooms"
                                It helps with the can taste and makes it so much softer to bite into!

                                      There are so many things I ended up having to ask my uncle about. Like for starters the "Pozole" as in the corn isnt called that, it's called maiz cacahuazintle.

                                      In the central and northern part of Mexico pozolerias are in fact places that sell pozole, but in the southeast pozolerias are places that sell pozol which is a drink/dough made of corn and roasted coco beans. Also pozol rojo as far as i've had it isnt spicy at all? Unless the person making it doesnt remove the veins and seeds, and doesnt like cook it before you blend it.

                                      Just a bunch of like little things here and there that threw me off. Like personally for me, I like my pozole with a lot of maiz cacahuazintle than what was put in this one.

                                          I only recently discovered Pozole can be verde earlier this year, and I absolutely loved it. Then Rick came through with the bon appetit video shortly after! This is a sign that I have to make this.

                                                I love to put a whole avocado in my pozole. I cut it into small pieces and it’s makes it creamier. I LOVE avocados so it makes it so much better for me

                                                                  Thank you for showing this beautiful dish. One of my faves Mexican dishes(not chicken) Everyone makes it different. This looks great! Seems like a very flavorful dish. But am I the only one that despises chicken pozole?? I like the white, green and red pozole but not with chicken.
